The team of Caritas Tajikistan together with its veterans celebrated the 15th anniversary of the opening of an office of the organization. The celebration event was small and internal. Veterans of the organization and those who currently perform well received memorable presents.
It was the first of April 2007, when CT opened its office. The office was a two-room rented apartment near the local church. The organization’s first employees were Michael Babayan as a logistic assistant and accountant and Fr. Juan Carlos Sack as executive director. The first president of CT was Fr. Carlos Avilla and Director. Figuratively speaking, the organization started from a “blank sheet” when there was only one single file of registration papers, no furniture, no computers, and no experience running an NGO. The establishment of an office was inspirited and supported by CRS. The initial project after the official opening was activities in the social, health, and WASH sectors. In 15 years of its uninterrupted activity in the country and Afghanistan CT implemented 33 projects of different scales supported by Caritas network partners and out of that. Caritas is currently accepted by local stakeholders as a solid NGO with expertise in WASH, Health, Emergency, and social sectors.
In the growth of CT, as an organization the role of CRS and Caritas Luxembourg is prominent and we memorize and highly appreciate it.
